Garden Wisdom... Sharing...
I have been in a snit all summer over the tomatoes I’m losing to whatever critter is sneaking in and chomping them to pieces…look at this mess!
I’ve gone out in the middle of the night with a flashlight thinking it might be racoons. I sat at the window reading all one morning so I could look out and catch the culprit if it was a squirrel. I’ve talked to garden friends all over the place to get ideas on what might be eating my tomatoes! I was so busy worrying about what I didn’t have that I forgot to appreciate what I do have!
In fact, I have plenty of tomatoes from my three plants. I have enough for BLT’s and Bruschetta and enough to share with friends…so what is the problem if a few are eaten? Now if I was losing them all or even half of them, I’d go back to worrying. But really, in the grand scheme of things I just put too much importance on a little loss.
Guess I’d better practice what I always taught my children, “focus on what you have and not on what you don’t have. You’ll live a much happier life that way”! ( And, you’ll waste a lot less energy!)
